My name is Heather Sherrill. Truth be told.....I'm never great at making myself sound like THE most spectacular person you've ever encountered. But I know how hard it is to find people you can trust as partners with your business. I hired people for 15+ years, and it was always painful because I treated each company I worked for like my own. So I'll try to highlight below why I'd be a person you can trust to help build your business in your vision.
I grew up in the sticks of the Midwest, and my mom would tell you that by the age of 5 or 6 I was saying I wasn't staying there. Early on, my dad instilled in me how important it was to be financially responsible, act with integrity, and if you say you're going to do something, then you better do it. The 5 or 6 year old me was right, by the way. I left the Midwest in my early 20's and have lived in every region of the country except for the East Coast.
I've run super small companies and I've run good sized companies with multiple locations. I'm proud to say that I left all of them a little better off. It didn't matter what size the company was, I always made it a point to know every position from the bottom up. Otherwise, how do you really run a business well? But I'm most proud of the fact that if you asked previous staff or owners of these businesses what they remembered about me, they would say my integrity.
I love helping people see their potential. And seeing them and/or their business reach that potential? Best professional days ever. Coaching is so rewarding for me because most of the time, people just need a little positive push. We all get stuck at some point. And we all need an unbiased person to help get us unstuck. That's how we grow, both personally and professionally. I have former staff that have kept in touch with me over the years. Some have moved into management. Some have decided to start their own small business. To me, it's confirmation of a job well done when a former employee reaches out for professional guidance years later, as they strive to take their career to the next level.
I'm a risk taker. Always have been. But I always weigh the whole risk/reward thing before I jump. I'm a firm believer that excellent communication staves off a lot of issues in business. I've also learned a lot of people forget to communicate in business, so I try to fill the gap. If I messed up, I'll tell you I messed up. If I don't think an idea is going down the right path, I'll tell you that too.
